In a momentous event that marks a significant leap forward in the island's development, His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the state-of-the-art powerhouse in Meemu Raiymandhoo on Sunday, 16th July 2023. Spanning an impressive area of 4,230 square feet, the new powerhouse is equipped with an engine room, control room, storeroom, and workshop. Notably, the engine room boasts a substantial capacity of 480kW, ensuring it can meet the island's growing power demands effectively.

The relocation of the powerhouse to its new site brings a multitude of benefits to the local community. One of the key advancements in this new facility is the incorporation of noise reduction measures. With the installation of double walls and sound attenuators, the new powerhouse aims to minimize noise pollution, ensuring a quieter operation of the electric generators.
