His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih led the inauguration ceremony for F. Feeali island’s new powerhouse, office building, and ice plant on 28th May 2023, marking a significant milestone in the island’s development. At the event held on the island, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih shut down the old powerhouse with the establishment of a more advanced facility.
Spanning an area of 2590 square feet, the new powerhouse incorporates an engine room, control room, chimney, fuel tank, storeroom, pantry, and a toilet. Engineered to meet a maximum power capacity of 1200KW, the powerhouse is designed with double walls and sound attenuators to minimize the noise generated by the electric generators.
The relocation of the powerhouse to a more suitable location ensures the mitigation of risks such as noise and air pollution in the local residential area. Additionally, the new powerhouse provides a long-term solution to the growing power demand on the island. Stringent adherence to health and safety standards further guarantees the well-being of the workforce, minimizing work-related risks and hazards.
Accompanying the powerhouse, the newly constructed office building spans 1500 square feet and offers a conducive working environment for a minimum of 30 staff members. Equipped with essential amenities including a reception area, general office space, meeting room, manager's room, technical staff room, pantry, restrooms, and toilets, the office building aims to enhance customer service and provide a better, cleaner, and more satisfying workplace.
In addition to the powerhouse and office building, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih also inaugurated the F.Feeali ice plant, which has a production capacity of 25 tons and a storage capacity of 50 tons. The plant has been in operation since October 1st, 2022, following the transfer of ownership from the F.Feeali Council to Fenaka Corporation Limited on September 22nd, 2022.
The new powerhouse, office building, and ice plant signify progress and promise a brighter future for the island's residents and businesses.
