Fenaka Men’s Futsal team pulled off an amazing comeback by crushing 3-times champions Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) 2-1 in the final on Saturday to win their maiden Club Maldives Cup title.
This was the first time Fenaka reached the final of the most prestigious futsal tournament held in Maldives and they were successful in winning the trophy on first attempt.

Ali Shamaal Abdulla opened the scoring for MPL in 11th minute of the opening half. During the first half, Ayaaz Ahmed (Ayaa) wasted two glorious chance to score for the Team Fenaka. Both of his long-range penalties were off target.
Fenaka equalized through Azzam Mohamed having received the ball from Ayaa. Due to the respect for his former team, Azzam didn’t celebrate after the goal. He twice won the cup with MPL in the past.
With 33 seconds remaining on the clock, Ayaa was again the architect for the goal. His shot from outside the box was saved by the heroic goalkeeper Ismail Faathih (Thaadey) of MPL while the rebound ball fell to the captain of Team Fenaka Hussain Shareef (Only) who made no mistake from close range to score the all-important winning goal.
At the end of the match as the certificates and awards were presented to the best performers of the tournament, Ayaa was declared Man of the Match. He also won the award handed out for the best player of the tournament “King of Futsal”. Only clinch the golden boot handed out for the top scorer. He scored an impressive 13 goals. Both Ayaa and Only were among the Top Five players of the tournament as well. The Best Coach Award was also won by Abdulla Naseer (Abo) of Team Fenaka.
