On the 24th of this month, Th. Veymandhoo lost its electricity due to a fire spreading at the Powerhouse. The fire broke out in the afternoon while some work was being done at the site. It spread across the building and it was controlled and put out in about 2 hours. The fire caused no casualties but the building and all equipment were damaged beyond use and new equipment was to be brought.

As soon as news hit that the powerhouse was on fire, MD Saeed and Fenaka team in male’, head out to Veymandhoo. At the island, he was directly involved with speeding up of the process of getting electricity back to the island.

Team FENAKA did tremendous and efficient work in getting electricity back. Within 33 hours of nonstop work from FENAKA, Generators and all equipment needed to restore power to the island was brought and installed.

MD Saeed congratulated the excellent hard work being done by TeamFenaka and thanked the residents of the island for their exemplary patience. He also stated that within the entire ordeal, Fenaka staff along with the people of Veymandhoo showed great courage and tenacity.
