Empowering Our Women

We aim to provide equal opportunities for women to get involved in the power sector.

Women empowerment has now become a widely regarded topic in today’s business world. In fact, it is not difficult to understand why. Women in leadership roles have demonstrated outstanding performances and proven to bring new dimensions to strategic developments and business decision making. This has inspired a global phenomenon to increase the participation of women in technical fields and the corporate world.

Taking insight from such business best practices, we are also endeavoring on a journey to create a corporate culture where women have equal say and contribution as men. By doing so we are not intending to replace men, but rather create an environment where both men and women can calibrate their ideas for more comprehensive and holistic outcomes.

During the past year, we have seen an increase in women's involvement in various levels of the company. This includes department heads, engineers and technicians, station managers, and internal committee executives. By doing so we had been able to observe the immediate benefits which reaped out of the change. It is in our vision to create more of such opportunities to women and utilize their knowledge and expertise in enhancing our service provision.

We acknowledge that simply increasing the number of women representation alone is not a sustainable solution for women empowerment. Recognizing this, we have also been carrying out various policy-level initiatives as well as relevant training to tackle the various barriers that women face in the work environment.

One of the most notable of such policy changes is following the government’s initiative and introducing six months of maternity leave to our female staff. This has shown and is expected to further reduce the number of female resignations following childbirth. We have also been strengthening policies related to sexual and workplace harassment to provide a safe environment for men and women working in the organization.

Furthermore, various sessions of training are being provided to boost self-confidence and provide assistance in addressing everyday challenges faced by our female employees. We have also been partnering in various programs and initiatives to promote women empowerment by our strategic partners as well as NGOs.
